Kol Kandoli (Nagrota)

Vaishno Devi is one of the most ancient holy places of India. Most of the tourists who travel to the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi have to start their journey from Kol Kandoli (Nagrota) as this very sacred place is said to be the “pehla darshan”. All pilgrims first visit this place before proceeding for Mata Vaishno Devi yatra. Many pilgrims throng Kol Kandoli (Nagrota) on every day during yatra.

Kol Kandoli is situated on Jammu Katra road in the Nagrota town. And its at a distance from Katra is about 20 kms. This place has its own spiritual importance. It is believed that Pandavas were the first who build the temples at Kol Kandoli in reverence and gratitude for Goddess Vasihno Devi. Also Goddess Vaishnodevi stayed here for quite a short time to complete spiritual discipline. With small girls Maiya had played here and was used to play and swing with local girls on nearby trees.

Mostly the visitor’s visit Jammu during the months of October - March as at that time the climate is quite pleasant for journey. If you desire to the darshan of Mata Vasihno devi then you can visit there at the time of October – March.
